Investment Operations Analyst

Role

Seafarer Capital Partners is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst to support the day-to-day operations of its investment funds. The role involves overseeing global trade settlement, performing reconciliations, and handling reporting and regulatory requirements.

Location

The firm’s office is located in Larkspur, California. The Investment Operations Analyst is required to be located in California. The position involves both in-office and remote work (i.e., a “hybrid” schedule). We expect the Investment Operations Analyst will work an estimated 4 days in the office and 1 remote day each week. Work hours will primarily align with U.S. market hours (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pacific Time). Business travel may be necessary, estimated at 1-2 weeks per year.

Reporting

This position reports to the Managing Director of Trading and Operations.

Responsibilities

The Investment Operations Analyst will be responsible for the following:

  • Security settlement: Assist with global settlement for fund trades (cash and securities) by working with custodians, brokers, and fund administrators.
  • Cash management: Help track and report fund cash balances and cash flows, including transfer agency and settlement-related activity.
  • Foreign exchange: Assist in executing and monitoring foreign exchange transactions to support settlement and cash needs.
  • Communications: Support communication with fund administrators and custodians to help ensure accurate trade processing and timely settlement.
  • Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations of cash, positions, and transactions and help investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Corporate actions: Assist in monitoring, processing, and reconciling corporate action events with custodians and administrators.
  • Transaction cost analysis: Prepare and help review transaction cost analysis (TCA) reports for foreign exchange and securities trades.
  • Reporting: Support the preparation of client, compliance, and regulatory reports.
  • Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of work experience in custodian operations, mutual fund operations, fund accounting, or investment operations.
  • Knowledge of the trading and settlement cycle for international capital markets (e.g., equities, foreign exchange).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and workflows independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and intellectual curiosity.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate global settlement cycles.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation includes base salary and a semi-annual discretionary cash bonus. The pay range for this position is $115,000 – $175,000; $148,000 is typical. The range is determined largely by individual performance and associated discretionary bonus.
  • 401(k) Plan with a matching contribution from Seafarer.
  • Equity incentive program. Seafarer is a 100% employee owned firm. Employees become eligible (but are not guaranteed) to participate in the Firm’s equity incentive program beginning one year after their start date.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage. Eligible dependents include spouse or registered domestic partner and children under 26 years of age. Employees have access to six medical plan options from United Healthcare (PPO) and Kaiser (HMO), dental coverage from Delta Dental, and vision coverage from Vision Service Plan (VSP). Seafarer covers a significant portion of the monthly premium costs. If an employee waives healthcare coverage, Seafarer shares premium savings with the employee.
